I found a car on Max Motors website, and I called to verify the vehicle was still available. The salesman (Eli) confirmed the vehicle was available in Harrisonville. I told him I would be there in an hour to look at the vehicle. I drove an hour to Harrisonville, and when I got there, the car was not there. They had sold the car the day before. Management failed to update their website, and the salesman failed to physically look to see if the car was actually on the lot. I wasted over two hours of my Saturday driving there and back when the car was never actually available.
We were flooded on the 7/27/17 event there in Harrisonville. The used F250 we traded for another truck was flooded up to the dash board. Max had this for sale on their lot and had not disclosed that on the Carfax so we, the previous owners, sent the documentation to Carfax. We decided not to keep the flooded vehicle since it was a 2016 and who know what trouble lies down the road with a flood vehicle. Pretty disappointed to see it for sale on their lot with out that disclosure.
One of their selling points on this particular truck was that it had new tires. I checked that block when looking over the vehicle, but what I failed to notice was that the tires they installed on this vehicle were very cheap tires from an obscure, no-name brand that no major vendor lists. 4,000 miles later, I lost one of the tires to a puncture. The people at Max Ford told me there was no warranty of any kind on these tires, and that my only option was to purchase a replacement at full retail. Due to my experiences with both sales and service, I will not be going back. My F-150 will be serviced by another dealer, and I now caution my family, friends, and neighbors to stay away.
I went to Max Ford because I was looking for a late model used F-150 with a specific combination of options, and they had one. The purchasing transaction was miserable, and they hit almost every negative dealer stereotype down to the “let me talk to my manager” routine. Arriving at a mediocre, but acceptable deal required four hours of negotiation. When I got my truck home, I discovered they used their dealer decal to conceal a dent with a big, through the paint scratch.
I gotta say, Max Motors was a fantastic place to buy a car. My wife and I went in knowing exactly what we wanted and where numbers needed to be. We never felt pressured or unwelcome and very much appreciated that. When we came in we explained what we wanted, what our time frame looked like for the day and not only did they work with us on that, they accommodated that. Mike did a great job helping us out and listening to what we needed, Doug was great and made us feel welcome, and Scott was great helping us with the financing and paperwork. The whole team worked together well and we'll be coming back for our Fords in the future.
Their finance guy razzle dazzled, bamboozled us (the flood victims in shock) and we got home to find our sales contract contained almost $6K of added junk we had not agreed too. Buyer Beware
Alan in service department is the best. Heather and April are right there with him.
